Dear Neutrogena,

I had a Wonko the Sane* moment yesterday morning.

Since the tender age of oh who knows?  14?  15?  I have worn sunscreen every day.  Way back when SPF 8 was de rigueur, I used to buy SPF 15.  Now that SPF 20 is the norm, I wear 30.  So, yesterday, as I was putting on my moisturizing sunscreen (SPF 30), in my ongoing daily attempt to preserve maintain recapture my youthiness, I re-read the label.**

Directions:  Prior to sun exposure, apply evenly to cleansed face and neck every day.
CAUTION:  This product contains retinol that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn.  Please limit sun exposure while using this product.

Um.

Let me get this straight:  this is a moisturizing sunscreen that's use will apparently cause me to get a sunburn.   And I'm supposed to apply it before sun exposure, but really, it's best to not have any sun exposure.  (Hubba-whaaa?)    Honestly, if I were planning on staying inside all the time in the dark, perhaps I wouldn't have bought a product that has an SPF of 30, hmmm?  What, am I supposed to apply another sunscreen on top?

Just saying.

Tamsin, you pigment-challenged ginger-baby, you, this is your future.

* Anyone?  Anyone?  The difference being that I am speaking from inside the asylum.

**  You know, just in case I was using it wrong and should have been drinking it instead.  Or something.
